GVCO MOVES TO CHAPEL ON MAUDE
by philip (30th January 19)
After many meetings with two other community groups, choir 36 Degrees South and the Shepparton Brass and Wind, GVCO has been able to move out of Shepparton High School to a new venue in the newly named "Chapel on Maude". This is an exciting move. All three groups are sharing the payment of the lease owned by the church. It has also meant that GVCO has had to purchase new instruments. We are sharing them with the band, who already have a number of instruments of their own. Wendy obtained quotes for the instruments and ultimately a fantastic deal with Future Music to buy three timpani, a drum kit, a great new bass drum and a new Roland piano, (for which we will be reimbursed by the choir, who will ultimately own the piano). As well as these instruments all accessories such as mallets, sticks and timpani covers, were included in the price. Congratulations Wendy for securing this deal. Everything, except two timpani, arrived on Tuesday January 29th and we had fun opening them and putting them all together (except the drum kit, which we will leave to percussionist extraordinaire, Bruce Archibald, to put together fully!) The other two timpani are still on the boat from Holland, but will arrive sometime in March and they will be delivered for no charge by Future Music! Our first gala concert will be held on April 28th in Chapel on Maude - a combined concert from all three groups as a welcome to this fantastic new rehearsal venue for us all.
